Tu Bishvat, the Holiday of the Trees 5786 Planting Together – KKL-JNF for Israel
Donate nowJanuary 1 – February 28, 2026
Since October 7, 2023, more than 230,000 dunams of open areas
in North and the South of Israel have been burned and destroyed,
including forest areas managed by KKL-JNF,
causing enormous damage to the environment in general and to KKL-JNF forests in particular.
In honor of Tu BiShvat, and as part of the effort to strengthen the population in the North and the south,
KKL-JNF is launching a special tree-planting and rehabilitation campaign of three forests that were burned and damaged over the past two years.
This can be done through a symbolic donation starting from 18 “Chai” NIS per tree instead of 36 NIS.
In the north: Amnun Forest, Northern slopes of Kineret,
In the south: Re’im Forest
In the center: Eshtaol Forest
You are kindly invited to take part in the planting campaign and the rehabilitation of fire-damaged in these forests of your choice.
As part of the donation, we can issue personalized
digital certificates of appreciation
for each of your company’s employees, family members,
or loved ones you wish to honor,
featuring the donors’ names and the company logo.
For donations above 18,000 NIS,
you may contact us at the email: sharonma@kkl.org.il
Donation to a Grove is NIS 18,000
(instead of NIS 36,000 during the year)
Donation to a Woodland is NIS 36,000
(instead of NIS 72,000 during the year)
Donation to a Forest is NIS 72,000
(instead of 144,000 NIS during the year)
It is important to clarify that this does not involve
the individual planting of specific trees, but rather a contribution toward the rehabilitation of the forest.
Planting at the site will be carried out
in accordance with the annual planting plan.
A donor plaque, based on the amount of the donation
(grove, woodland, or forest), will be placed according to your choice, at one of the KKL-JNF dedication centers.
The benefits of planting a tree
- One tree can absorb up to 22 kg of CO² (carbon dioxide) per year
- An average tree can produce up to 100 kg of oxygen per year
- A mature tree provides shelter and food for hundreds of animal species
- Tree roots in the forest help stabilize the soil and reduce erosion
- Trees can reduce the local temperature in their environment by an average of about 5 degrees
Frequently asked questions
Trees are the most critical component of our ecosystem. Beyond their beauty and the aesthetic value they add to the environment, trees play many vital roles: They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, filter toxic metals from the air, capture dust, reduce noise, stabilize the soil and prevent erosion, provide shade (indispensable in a hot, high-radiation climate such as Israel’s), and serve as a source of protection and food for wildlife in our surroundings.
KKL-JNF plants tree species suited to their natural habitats, managing the ecosystem in a way that encourages natural processes for a sustainable forest. Depending on the geographic area, plantings include a mix of conifers (such as pines and cypresses) and broadleaf vegetation composed of native Israeli species, including oak, terebinth, carob, and Judas trees. In arid regions with low rainfall like the Negev, KKL-JNF plants desert-adapted species such as broom, acacia, tamarisk, and others.
The donation amount for planting a tree is a symbolic sum of 36 NIS per tree (twice the numerical value of חי- chai, meaning “life”), which supports KKL-JNF’s ongoing reforestation and forest maintenance activities.
It should be noted that this sum does not reflect the actual cost involved in planting trees in the various geographical regions of Israel.
Every tree donated through this website corresponds to an actual tree planted by KKL-JNF foresters in the forest of your choice.
After making your donation, you are welcome to visit the forest where your tree was planted. Please note that it isn’t possible to identify the specific tree, as thousands are planted each year.
Yes, you can personally dedicate the tree/s to someone special, and write your own dedication text.
To help protect the environment and reduce paper use, the certificate is sent exclusively in digital form to your designated email address.
Yes, it is possible to plant a tree in person, with an additional cost that covers the year-round irrigation and care required for these physical plantings.

According to Jewish law (Halacha), every seventh year the land must be left to rest, and planting trees in the Land of Israel is prohibited.
During the Shmita year, all tree-planting donations made to KKL-JNF are accumulated and reserved for carrying out the plantings once the Shmita year ends, at the close of the Hebrew year.
In many cases, during the Shmita year we offer the option to donate to KKL-JNF’s post-fire rehabilitation efforts instead.
Upon completing the donation, the donor will receive a beautiful digital certificate.
During the donation process, you will be offered the option to personalize the certificate with your own written dedication.
The certificate is designed to fit an A4 page, and can be easily downloaded and printed on your home printer.
The certificate can be framed independently. The image is for illustration purposes only.
*Please note that the final product is a digital file and does not come framed.
